Shoeboxes will be placed in the ACTS Building, waiting to be filled with necessities, candy and small gifts for children around the world who have never heard the name of Jesus.
The Operation Christmas Child program of Franklin Graham’s Samaritan’s Purse provides an opportunity for all of us to be involved in a simple hands on mission that introduces God’s greatest gift – Jesus Christ – to children in areas of extreme deprivation around the world. Our goal for this year is 200 shoeboxes packed and placed in the ACTS Building by Wednesday, November 3.
Donations are welcomed. If you cannot pack a box but want to participate, packing supplies are needed. A list of suggestions and complete details are in the Operation Christmas Child brochure located in the foyer of the Large Sanctuary and on the reception desk in the ACTS Building. A donation box for these items will be located in the ACTS Building. We particularly need toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, washcloths, HARD candy, lollipops and gum.
If you would like to donate money, please submit your check to the church office. Monetary gifts will be used to purchase additional items and to cover the cost of shipping the boxes, which is $7 per box. If you have questions or would like to volunteer to assist with Operation Christmas Child, please contact Barbara Sanford (237-1552) or Gloria Reynolds at the church (237-4223, ext. 205). Look for additional information in the next newsletter, upcoming church bulletins, or at www.samaritanspurse.org/occ. Each box is your unique opportunity to bring hope to a hurting child.
